India, on Monday, successfully test fired the supersonic missile assisted torpedo (SMART) off the coast of Balasore in Odisha.
The SMART weapon system has been developed by the defence research and development organisation (DRDO) for the Indian Navy.
“The system has been designed to enhance anti-submarine warfare capability far beyond the conventional range of torpedo,” the DRDO stated.
The test was done from Wheeler Island in Odisha.
