India’s COVID-19 scenario continues to deteriorate further as the Country on Thursday registered world’s highest ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases. 

India in the last 24 hours detected over 3.14 lakh case of COVID-19. 

A total of 3,14,835 COVID-19 cases were detected in India in the last 24 hours. 

Moreover, as many as 2104 deaths related to COVID-19 were also reported in India in last 24 hours, another record for India. 

The active cases tally in India has shot up to 22,91,428. 

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 death tally is now nearing the 2-lakh-mark. 

India’s COVID-19 death tally, presently, stands at 1,84,657. 

As per the latest COVID-19 bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry, India’s total COVID-19 cases tally now stands at over 1.59 crores.

Meanwhile, experts believe that as per the current trends Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Telangana may see a peak of ‘new’ cases during April 25-30. 

Odisha, Karnataka and West Bengal may see a peak in new COVID-19 cases during May 1-5 while Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during May 6-10.  

Meanwhile, amid rising death toll, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday night came down heavily on the Centre saying that it seemed “human lives are not that important.. for the State”. 

“We are shocked and dismayed that the government does not seem to be seeing the reality… What is happening? Why is the government not waking up to the reality?” said the Court.

The Delhi High Court has asked the Central Government to do whatever is needed to provide oxygen to the hospitals in the National Capital and save human lives.  

“Beg, borrow or steal. It is a national emergency,” said the Division Bench of Justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli.
