India beat England by 317 runs in the 2nd Test Match played at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.

India exploited the spin-friendly conditions to beat England in the 2nd Test Match and level the four-match Test series 1-1.

India knocked out England for just 164 in their second innings with over four sessions to spare in the match.

The Indian spin-trio of Ravichandran Ashwin (3-53), Axar Patel (5-60) and Kuldeep Yadav (2-25) wreaked havoc in the English batting line-up, claiming all the 10 wickets between them in England’s second innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin was adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his exceptional all-round performance in the match.

Ashwin scored a gritty century in India’s 1st innings before claiming 5 English wickets in England’s 1st innings.

With this emphatic win India has kept its hope alive for a title clash against New Zealand for the coveted World Test Champion.

India need to win the series by at least 2-1 margin or better to make it to the finals of the World Test Championship.

Both the teams will now head to Ahmedabad for the remaining of 2 Test matches of the series.

The third Test, a Day-Night one in Ahmedabad will start from February 24.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli tweeted, “Superb character and fighting spirit on display. Well done boys. The focus is now on the next one.”

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer said, “When the going got tough the tough got going… Building up to be a cracking series. Can’t wait for the pink ball test…”

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Yeeeeeaaaaahhhh and YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH! India Wins by 317 runs .. I mean 317 runs in a Test… that is INCREDIBLE!”
