Former NSG chief JK Dutt, who led 26/11 operations, dies of COVID-19

Former National Security Guard (NSG) director general JK Dutt, who led the elite commando force in the during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks counter operations, has died of COVID-19. 

JK Dutt passed away at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon near New Delhi on Wednesday at the age of 72.

“He passed away after suffering a massive cardiac arrest,” family members of JK Dutt said. 

JK Dutt, was a 1971-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the West Bengal cadre.

He served as the DG of the NSG from August 2006 to February 2009. 

He had also served in various positions in the CBI and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). 

The NSG condoled his death through a message on Twitter. 

“He will always be remembered for his leadership during Op Black Tornado (Mumbai 2008). May Almighty rest his noble soul in eternal peace and give strength to his family to bear the loss,” the NSG said.
