As many as 103 elephants were tested for coronavirus Rajasthan- which is a one of its kind feat in the country.

The elephants that were tested belonged mainly from the precincts of the Aamer fort area and in Hathi Gaon.

The team of doctors that carried out the tests included three veterinarians- Dr Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Director (Polyclinic) Dr Arvind Mathur and Dr Dhiraj Shukla.

Dr Mathur informed that such health camps for elephants are organised every year by the forest department.

He said the team collected blood, urine, oral and rectal samples of the elephants and the test samples were sent at two places- one in the state at Panch Batti and also to IVR in Bareilly.

He further said that the tests were conducted as a matter of precaution for prophylactic purpose.

The test reports of the elephants in Hathi Gaon are expected in about ten to fifteen days’ time.

The tests were conducted on Friday.
