Eight MLAs who recently quit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are expected to join the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Friday.
They are expected to join the SP in presence of Akhilesh Yadav.
Over the past few days, at least nine BJP MLAs resigned from the party alleging that the party had done nothing for the backward and marginalised communities in the state as well as the country.

Minister of Ayush Dharam Singh Saini, MLAs Mukesh Verma, and Awasthi Bala Prasad resigned from the party on Thursday.
The resignations and decisions came just a few days before the UP elections.
The first candidate lists for the elections by Congress and the SP-RLD alliance have been announced.
As per reports, Congress has announced 125 candidates while the SP-RLD alliance announced 29 candidates.

The BJP on the other hand finalised 172 candidates.
Further, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to contest from Ayodhya.
