Both ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams of Mangaldai Cricket Academy moved into the final of the first Sachindra Kr Saharia Memorial District Level Inter School U-18 limited overs cricket tournament.

In the second semi-final of the tournament played at the Mangaldai Stadium on Tuesday, the ‘B’ team of the Mangaldai Cricket Academy (MCA) crushed Mangaldai Government Higher Secondary School by nine wickets in a one-sided affair.

Opting to bat first after calling the coin correctly, the Mangaldai Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) boys were bowled out for a paltry 56 runs with more than three overs to spare.

Mohammad Arif (17) was the only notable contributor to the MGHSS innings while Asif Ali Motlier (3/15) was the chief wrecker for Mangaldai Cricket Academy. In the run chase, Mangaldai Cricket Academy boys reached the target in 10.1 overs losing only one wicket.

Mangaldai Cricket Academy’s Khursid Alam remained unbeaten at 26.

Earlier, in the first semi-final match, ‘A’ team of Mangaldai Cricket Academy beat Mangaldai Don Bosco High School School by 20 runs. The winners set a target of 90 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the Mangaldai Don Bosco boys but they were bundled out for 69 runs in 16.5 overs.

Aibul Ali of Mangaldai Cricket Academy who top scored with 27 runs and took 2 wickets for 11 was adjudged as the ‘Man of the Match’.

The final match of the limited overs cricket tournament will be played on March 25 next.

According to Mintu Sarma, office-bearer of the organizer Mangaldai Sports Association (MSA), apart from two young teams consisting of students of different local schools, eight other educational institutions have participated in the tournament.
