On a tip-off, a team of Dibrugarh Police on Sunday night was able to bust an illegal liquor racket in Namrup, an industry-based town under Dibrugarh district and seized a large number bottles of illegal liquors.
Sources said, “During an operation launched by police in Namrup on Sunday night, the Dibrugarh Police was able to bust an illegal liquor racket, which has remained active in Namrup and its nearby areas since long.”
Sources also informed that the operation was carried out by the Dibrugarh Police under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kobita Das.
Talking to Northeast Now, DSP Das said, “We were able bust an illegal liquor racket in Namrup last night. During the operation, we were able to seize a large number of bottles of foreign liquors, local and some miscellaneous products from the BVFCL daily market, Dillighat and Panisukia Bongaon.”
Das also added, “During the operation, an illegal liquor godown was also destroyed and two persons were arrested red-handed. Illegal liquors worth more than a lakh have been seized.”
