Among the total candidates contesting the 2020 Delhi Assembly polls, the percentage of women this year is maximum at over 11 per cent.
This is the first time the percentage of figures have reached double digits.

“This time 672 candidates are contesting the Delhi polls and out them, 79 are women. This is over 11 per cent,” sources informed.
Delhi will vote on Saturday and results will be declared on Tuesday.
Aam Aadmi Party, the BJP and the Congress have fielded a total of 24 female candidates out of the total 79.

In the 2015 polls, there were 673 candidates in total and out of them, the number of females was 66. Only six were elected.
Out of 810 candidates, 71 were women in 2013 and three of them won the polls.
With 81 candidates out of 875, the number of females in 208 was the highest and only three were elected.
The first Assembly election in Delhi was held in 1993 and out of 1316 total number of candidates, 79 were women and only three were elected.
