Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted bail to a pregnant student of Jamia Millia Islamia University who was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in a case related to the Northeast Delhi violence.
The high court granted bail to Safoora Zargar after the police did not oppose it on “humanitarian grounds”, ND TV reported.

Safoora Zargar was arrested on April 10 under the UPPA over the Northeast Delhi riots that broke out in February during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
The Delhi High Court directed Zargar to not get involved in activities that may hamper the investigation. She also cannot leave Delhi without permission.
In case she requires to leave the city, she will seek the permission of the concerned court, it said.

She will also have to remain in touch with the investigation officer over the phone once in 15 days.
Zargar has to stay in touch with an Investigating Officer on the phone at least once in 15 days and also furnish a personal bond of Rs 10,000.
