Covid19 lockdown in Delhi; complete curfew from tonight

In view of rising Covid19 positive and death cases, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced lockdown from 10 pm tonight till 5 am of April 26 (Monday).

Delhi has recorded around 23,500 Covid19 cases in the last 24 hours.

“I appeal to the people of Delhi to follow lockdown which is necessary to reduce Covid cases; we will improve health system during this time,” Delhi chief minister Kejriwal said in a live press conference.

The Delhi chief minister also appealed to the migrant workers staying in the national capital not to leave the city during ‘small lockdown’.

A report quoted official sources as saying that the decision regarding complete curfew was taken during a meeting held between Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal and chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Nearly 50,000 people tested positive and around 330 people died of Covid19 infection in the last two days.

The report said the total curfew will be imposed in Delhi from 10pm on Monday till April 26 (Monday).

It has been reported that Delhi has faced a shortage of oxygen cylinders following which the state government under the leadership of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal decided to directly oversee the entire procurement and distribution process of oxygen.

The Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Monday tweeted: “Under the leadership of Hon’ble CM Shri @ArvindKejriwal, the Delhi Govt will now directly oversee the entire procurement & distribution process of both Remdesivir injections & medical oxygen to ensure adequate treatment for Corona patients in Delhi.”

According to an official order, issued by the health department of Delhi, a team of 9 officers will be deputed at oxygen filling plants, and oversee operations of medical oxygen suppliers.
