With the detection of 74,383 new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, including 918 deaths, India on Sunday crossed the 70 lakh-mark, taking the total to 70,53,806.
Out of the total positive cases registered in the country so far, 8,67,496 are still active, according to the latest data released by the Union health ministry.

As per the data, a total of 60,77,976 patients have cured/discharged/migrated and 1,08,334 people have succumbed to COVID19 so far in the country.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state with a total of 15,17,434 COVID19 positive cases, including 40,040 deaths.
Maharashtra is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

The five top states with maximum caseload (61% active cases) are contributing more than half (54.3%) of the total recoveries in the country, the Union health ministry said.
According to the Union health ministry, while the active cases increased to 12.30%, the recovery rate stands at 86.17 and the death rate is 1.54%.
As per the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India on Saturday conducted 10,78,544 COVID19 tests in a single day, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 8,68,77,242.
