In yet another massive spike in COVID-19 cases in India, the country on Sunday logged over 2.71 lakh new cases.
India reported 2,71,202 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday at a positivity rate of 16.28%.

With the detection of the new cases, India’s COVID-19 active cases now comprise 4.18 per cent of the total infections tally.
An increase of 1,32,557 active cases has been recorded in a span of 24 hours.
There are a total of 15,50,377 active cases in India.

With India witnessing the third wave of the virus, cases have surged rapidly across the country.
The union ministry of health and family welfare further informed that 314 new COVID-19 deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate saw a marginal improvement from 16.66 per cent to 16.28 per cent.
The number of Omicron also surged in India and now stands at 7743.
