COVID-19 cases in India continues to surge uncontrollably as a total of 78,512 fresh cases reported in the past 24-hours, the union health ministry said.
With this, national tally mounted to 3,621,245, the union health ministry further revealed on Monday.
“With 971 more deaths, the toll has climbed to 64,469 so far,” the ministry added
It may be mentioned here that of the total confirmed cases, 7,81,975 are active cases, while a total of 2,77,48,01 have recovered from the virus so far.
With 60,868 recoveries in a day, the recovery rate stood at 76.61 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.79 per cent, the health ministry further informed.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state and the total COVID-19 cases in the state stand at 7,64,281 with a total of 24,103 deaths.
Maharashtra is followed by Tamil Nadu with 4,15,590 COVID-19 cases and 7,137 deaths.
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, West Bengal, and Bihar come next.
COVID-19 cases have breached the 1 lakh mark in Assam as well and the total cases detected in the state so far is 1,05,774.
