A 70-year-old preacher from Punjab, who recently died due to coronavirus, has led to the quarantine of nearly 25,000 others in the state.

As per reports, the man known as Baldev Singh had returned from a trip to  Germany.

He ignored to self-quarantine later emerged as a super spreader of coronavirus.

He had visited a large gathering to celebrate the Sikh festival of Hola Mohalla shortly before he died.

This year, the religious fair began on March 10 and ended on March 12.

The Hola Mohalla festival which is celebrated in Punjab’s Anandpur Sahib attracts a huge crowd of people annually.

On March 16, Singh fell sick and visited two private hospitals in Phagwara and Jalandhar before going to the Jalandhar civil hospital.

From there, he was referred to the Banga civil hospital where he died of a heart attack.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in India jumped to 944 on Saturday.

The death toll due to coronavirus cases in the country has also increased to 20 on Saturday.
