Covid19: Complete lockdown begins in Haryana from May 3 for a week

Keeping in view of the rising Covid19 cases, lockdown has been imposed in Haryana with effect from 5 am on Monday (May 3).

The Haryana government has imposed the lockdown to curb the second wave of COVID19 pandemic.

The complete lockdown will remain effective till 5 am on May 10.

The lockdown was announced Haryana home and health minister Anil Vij on Sunday.

“From May 3, there will be a 7-day long lockdown in the entire state,” Vij tweeted.

On Sunday, Haryana recorded 13,322 new Covid19 cases.

The state currently has 1,05,270 active Covid19 cases.

So far a total of 4,486 people have died of Covid19 infection and the state’s fatality rate stands at 0.87%.

On Friday, the Haryana government had imposed a weekend lockdown in 9 districts including Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panchkula, Sonipat, Rohtak, Karnal, Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad – from 10 pm on Friday till 5 am on Monday.

However, the vaccination centres, banks and essential services will remain functional during the lockdown.

All the health services including hospitals, nursing homes and clinics will remain functional, the guideline said.

The people will be allowed to proceed to the COVID vaccination centres.

The dispensaries, chemists, pharmacies, all kinds of medicine shops including Jan Aushadi Kendras and medical equipment shops will remain functional, according to the guidelines for the lockdown.

As per the guidelines, supply of essential goods is allowed.

All facilities in the supply of essential goods, whether involved in manufacturing, wholesale or retail of such goods through local stores, large brick and mortar stores or e-commerce companies are allowed to operate, ensuring strict social distancing norms, the guidelines said.
