For the first time after Doklam dispute, Thimphu and Beijing are trying to bring back ties on track with Chinese vice foreign minister Kong Xuanyou accompanied by officials visiting Bhutan from July 22-24.
Though the two countries do not have formal diplomatic relations yet they have held 24 rounds of talks on resolving the Doklam boundary issue.
Relations between the two countries were strained after the Doklam row. Indian and Chinese troops faced off for 72 days last year.
During the visit, the vice foreign minister called on Bhtanese King and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and met foreign minister Damcho Dorji.
This is the vice foreign minister’s first visit to Bhutan since assuming his post in January this year.
