With an aim to create awareness regarding the severity of coronavirus pandemic, a Chennai artist in collaboration with a police officer has made a unique ‘Corona’ helmet.

The special ‘corona’ helmet aims to dissuade commuters from coming out on the streets during the nationwide lockdown.

The artist identified as Gowtham said that people are not treating the COVID-19 threat seriously even after the police personnel are working extremely hard to ensure people stay indoors.

He informed that after he came up with the idea he used a broken helmet and some papers to complete the corona helmet.

Apart from the helmet, Gowtham has also prepared several placards and slogans and handed them over to the police.

“The helmet is proving to be useful,” the police said after using it.

The helmet is worn by Police Inspector Rajesh Babu.

With the helmet on, he speaks to commuters on the street regarding the severity of coronavirus.

He said the visual of a not so appealing virus had a positive impact so far.

“Once the people see the helmet, a sense of fear seems to have instilled as the number of people venturing out has lessened,” the police said.

Tamil Nadu on Saturday morning had 38 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 6 foreigners.
