Ahead of the budget session 2022, over 400 staff of the Parliament have tested positive for COVID-19.
As many as 402 staff of the Parliament have tested COVID-19 positive.
“402 staffs were tested positive for COVID-19 from January 4-8 and all samples have been sent to genome sequencing for Omicron variant confirmation,” an official was quoted as saying by new agency ANI.
“There is a consolidated list of 200 Lok Sabha and 69 from Rajya Sabha and 133 allied staff who have tested positive,” an internal Parliament staff message reportedly read.

Notably, India, on Sunday, logged a total of 1,59,632 new COVID-19 infections.
This is the highest single-day COVID numbers in 224 days.
The number of active COVID cases in India also increased to 5,90,611 – the highest in the last 197 days.
Meanwhile, the case tally of the Omicron variant of the virus has reached 3,623 in the country.
