On Sunday morning at around 9:45 am, three crude bombs exploded in front of Madhur Canteen in Dhaka University (DU) campus.
“Three bombs exploded today morning at around 9:45 am in front of Madhur Canteen in the premises of Dhaka University. However, no one was injured in the blasts,” said DU proctor AKM Golam Rabbani.
“The blasts have been carried out by someone who wants to create unrest in the university’s campus,” Rabbani said.
“We will take legal action against those who are responsible for the blasts, regardless of which organization they belong to,” he added.
General secretary of Chhatra League DU Saddam Hossain said, “I think this offence was committed by some Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) members.”
“JCD members were deprived of their positions when the new committee was formed. And hence I feel they are behind the blast. This incident needs to be investigated,” Hossain added.
Reacting to Hossain’s allegation, JCD convener Rakibul Islam Rakib said they will not blame anyone and want the DU authorities to find out the culprits at the earliest.
Rakib further added that since there are plenty of CCTVs in the university campus, hence finding the culprits won’t be much difficult.
Police are investigating the incident.
