Bomb recovered in Delhi market, NSG defuses IED by controlled blast

A major tragedy was averted in Delhi after the National Security Guard (NSG) carried a controlled explosion of a bomb that was recovered at a market in the national capital. 

An improvised explosive device (IED) was recovered inside a bag that was left abandoned at a flower market in east Delhi on Friday afternoon.

The flower market in Ghazipur, where the bomb was recovered, draws crowds in large numbers. 

Soon after the bomb was recovered, the market area was cordoned off and the NSG was called in.

An eight-foot pit was dug by the Delhi police, where the IED was blown in a controlled manner. 

The market is located near the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border. 

The bag in which the IED was recovered was left abandoned at a flower shop by a man who came in a scooter. 

After the bag was spotted by other customers, the flower seller called the police.
