The Taliban, on Monday, has claimed that they have “completely captured” Panjshir Valley, the last stronghold of the resistance forces in Afghanistan.
“With this victory, our country is completely taken out of the quagmire of war,” a Taliban spokesman said.
However, the anti-Taliban resistance force – the National Resistance Force (NRF) has denied the claims of the Taliban terming it as ‘false’.

“Taliban’s claim of occupying Panjshir is false. The NRF forces are present in all strategic positions across the valley to continue the fight. We assure the ppl of Afghanistan that the struggle against the Taliban & their partners will continue until justice & freedom prevails,” the NRF tweeted.

After the fall of Kabul on August 15, Panjshir remained the pocket of resistance where forces led by Ahmad Massoud, the son of former Afghan guerrilla commander Ahmad Shah Massoud, fought the Taliban.
Ahmad Massoud, meanwhile, has claimed that the Pakistan army and the ISI are ‘leading’ the Taliban in the fighting at Panjshir Valley.
“The Taliban are not fighting with us but the Pakistani army and ISI are leading them. The Taliban are not strong enough to compete with us but the Pakistan Army is cooperating with them,” Ahmad Massoud claimed.
