In a freaky road accident on Friday, 33-year-old mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna from Bangladesh was killed on the Lake road in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, police said.

Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station sub-inspector Ibrahim, confirming the incident, said, “A private car pushed Reshma Nahar Ratna from behind, while she was cycling on the Lake Road at around 9 am today morning.”

He further informed that police rushed to the spot and took the victim to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital.

“Doctors declared her dead in the hospital,” he said.

Reshma began her journey of mountaineering by climbing the peak of Keokradong hill in Bangladesh in 2016.

Reshma Nahar Ratna also participated in the expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and Mount Kenya, the second-highest of the continent in 2018.

In 2019, Reshma successfully summited two mountains named Stok Kanri (6,153 metres) on August 24 and Kang Yatse II (6,250 metres) on August 30 in Ladakh, India.
