Indian badminton superstar Saina Nehwal has tested positive for COVID-19.

This is the second time since last month that Saina Nehwal has tested positive for COVID-19.

Saina Nehwal has tested positive in the third COVID-19 test after arriving in Bangkok, Thailand.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal along with HS Prannoy, who also has tested COVID-19 positive have been shifted to the hospital.

Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy will have to serve a mandatory 10-day quarantine at the Hospital according to rules in Bangkok.

Saina Nehwal’s husband Parupalli Kashyap, who has been identified as close contact, has also been asked to head to the hospital.

Kashyap’s test reports are still awaited.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal has expressed displeasure over lack of information over the development.

She said, “I still didn’t receive the covid test report from yesterday it’s very confusing and today just before the warm up for the match they tell me to get to hospital in Bangkok … saying that I am positive. According to rules the report should come in 5 hours.”

Meanwhile the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has confirmed that four players tested positive for COVID-19 in the tests that were conducted on Monday in Bangkok.

“BWF can confirm four players tested positive for COVID-19 in Bangkok, Thailand today after the third round of mandatory testing was conducted on Monday 11 January, 2021,” the BWF said.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal, HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap have been withdrawn from the Thailand Open.

Notably, the Indian badminton players are in Bangkok as the game resumed ahead of the Olympics after a gap of almost 300 days.
