The police have arrested four youths alleged to have gang-raped a 16-year-old girl at Digboi in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district on Thursday night.
Police sources said the four youths allegedly gang-raped the minor girl on roadside at Muliabari in Digboi when she was returning home from a puja pandal in the area.
The patrolling party of police, which reached the spot after she had cried for help, rescued the girl and admitted to a hospital in Digboi.
Although the four accused flee the spot after the incident, police later managed to nab them. Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by the girl with Digboi police station and arrested the youths.
The youths have been identified as Subham Das, Ajoy Pandey, Akash Chakraboty and Dhruba Gogoi.
