Ten more positive patients have died of infections in Assam in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 853 while 767 new positive cases have been detected in the state, taking the tally to 1,99,749.
Confirming the news of the detection of new cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on COVID19, the cases have been confirmed out of 34,714 tests.
The positivity rate of Assam stands at 2.21%.
“767 cases detected out of 34714 tests – Positivity Rate – 2.21%,” Sarma tweeted.
Meanwhile, 931 more patients have been discharged in the state after their recovery.
While 85.23% of the positive patients have recovered the 14.33% of the patients are still active.
The death rate stands at 0.42%.

“Very sad and anguished to inform that 10 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease,” health minister Sarma said in another tweet.
The deceased have been identified as Rang Bahadur Newar (44) of Charaideo; Prabhat Kumar Dey (72) of Tinsukia; Tanmay Sanyal (36) and Aso Puro (47) of Chirang; Nilima Baishya (77) of Barpeta; Kanak Talukdar (48) of Kamrup Metro; Anup Kumar Paul (56) of Cachar, Haren Goswami (85) of Sonitpur; Lakmi N Biyani (70) and Jalil Ahmed (75) of Kamrup Metro.
“My condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,” said Sarma.
