A habitual drug peddler, identified as Ainul Rajibul Hussain alias Raja (23), from Bihpuria in Lakhimpur district of Assam, was taken into custody in connection with a previously registered case at the Naharlagun police station.

Hussain had been on the radar of the police after he arrived in Naharlagun on August 18 in a white Scorpio car without a number plate and allegedly distributed contraband drugs.

Despite a previous attempt to apprehend him, Hussain had managed to evade capture by ramming through a police barricade and fleeing the scene.

In a second operation conducted by the Banderdewa police, Sonu Deori alias Bikash Deori (23), another drug peddler from Bihpuria, was arrested in Banderdewa. Approximately 5.48 grams of suspected heroin were recovered from his possession.

Both arrests were made under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo. The police have registered separate cases against the arrested individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

These successful operations demonstrate the commitment of the local law enforcement agencies in combating the menace of drug trafficking in the region.
