Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to Mumbaiโ€™s Nanavati hospital after he tested positive for COVID19.

The 77-year-old megastar has shared the news on his Twitter handle.

โ€œI have tested CoviD positive..  shifted to Hospital .. hospital informing  authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited .. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested!โ€ Bachchan said in a tweet at 10.55 pm on Saturday.

Bachchan was last seen in the comedy-drama Gulabo Sitabo by Shoojit Sircar.

Due to COVID19 pandemic, the movie was premiered on Amazon Prime Video.

His upcoming movies include Jhund, Brahmastra and Chehre.

A media report quoted doctors as saying that Bachchan, a โ€œsymptomaticโ€ COVID19 patient, was in self-isolation at his home before being hospitalised on Saturday evening.

Nanavati Hospital is located in Mumbaiโ€™s Ville Parle, which is very close to the superstarโ€™s residence in the Juhu area of the city.

Bachchan had survived a near-fatal accident on the sets of Manmohan Desaiโ€™s Coolie in 1982.
