The Union home ministry effected major reshuffle in its media wing following a slew of news reports that caused a flutter in department.
All senior members of the existing team handling media have been replaced with a new team, India Today reported.
Over the past week, there were news reports on an erroneous post on the Facebook page of the home ministry which showed a photograph of table full of snacks and two bottles of Royal Stag whisky while putting out pictures of relief work in Bengal after Cyclone Amphan in May.
The erroneous post was put out inadvertently by a junior contractual employee.
Subsequently, the Citizenship Amendment Bill went missing from the MHA document listing its achievements. These incidents were seen as immediate trigger for shunting of the team, says the India Today report.
Director General-Bureau of Outreach and Communications Nitin Wakankar has been as the head of the media wing of the home ministry.
Besides DG, media wing will have three new faces with Rajkumar as ADG, Praveen Kavi as deputy director and Amandeep Yadav as assistant director in the home ministry.
In effect, Wakankar has replaced Vasudha Gupta, the outgoing DG-PIB attached with MHA media wing.
Gupta has been appointed as the head of DG-PIB Fact Check Unit.
Another team member Virat Majboor has been moved out as deputy director of news, NSD and AIR.
Deputy director Harit Ketan is deputy director, DPD (department of publication division).
While Wakankar has been earlier spokesperson of defence ministry and the Central Bureau of Investigation, Praveen Kavi is an old hand in dealing with MHA.
