The prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Delhi is all set to start trials of the COVID-19 vaccine – Covaxin on children. 

As per a reports, the trials of Bharat Biotech developed Covaxin, will undergo trials on children from Monday.

The clinical trials of Covaxin have already begun at the AIIMS-Patna on June 3. 

Thus far, 10 children have reportedly received their first dose of Covaxin at AIIMS-Patna. They will receive their second vaccine dose 28 days later.

Moreover, Covaxin trials on children have also begun in Nagpur from Sunday at the Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences. 

Altogether 41 children in the age group of 2-18 years have been selected for the trials. 

The clinical trials of Covaxin have begun after Bharat Biotech received the nod from Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on May 11. 

Covaxin is one of the two vaccines which is being used in India.
