After West Bengal, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested another Laskar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative from Karnataka for being involved in the terror recruitment case.

The LeT operative was arrested on Tuesday evening, NIA officials said.

NIA officials informed that the accused, identified as 28-year-old Sayyad M. Idris, was arrested from Uttara Kannada in Karnataka.

“The Pakistan-based handlers belonging to terrorist outfit Laskar-e-Taiba have been using various social media platforms to radicalize and recruit vulnerable youth for sleeper cells, to propagate their ideology and for abetting & advocating unlawful activities,” the NIA officials said.

The arrested accused was a part of various social media groups run by Pakistani-based LeT handlers in their effort to recruit individuals for sleeper cells of LeT and for furthering terrorist activities, the NIA officials said.

“Transit remand is being taken to produce him before NIA Court in Kolkata,” officials said.

In this case, a chargesheet has already been filed against accused Tania Parvin, a resident of Kolkata on September 10.

“Further investigation in the case is on,” the NIA officials said.
