Weeks after being removed from as Union minister, BJPโs Asansol MP Babul Supriyo on Saturday announced that he was quitting politics.
The former Union minister however made it clear that he would not join any party โ TMC, Congress, CPI(M).
The Bollywood singer said he is a โone-team playerโ.
The BJP leader from West Bengal made the announcement in a Facebook post.
He started the Facebook post with โIโm leavingโฆfarewellโ.
โHeard everyoneโs words โ father, (mother) wife, daughter, two dear friendsโฆAfter hearing everything, I say that I am not going to any other party โ #TMC, #Congress, #CPIM, nowhereโฆ I am a one Team Player!โ
โHave always supported one team #MohunBaganโฆHave backed only BJP in West BengalโฆThatโs itโฆI am goingโฆโ the artiste wrote in the post.
โIf you want to do social work, you can do it without being in politicsโฆletโs organise myself a little first and thenโฆ,โ he wrote.
Supriyo was serving as the Union minister of state for environment, forest, and climate change before he was dropped from the ministry.
But he was removed as a minister in the Narendra Modi Cabinet earlier this month.
In the last West Bengal Assembly election 2021, he lost in the Tollygunj constituency in Kolkata by over 50,000 votes.
He has thanked Union minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda for โtheir loveโ.
