The BYCS India is going to celebrate the World Bicycle Day on June 3 by launching the First Ever Virtual Bicycle Video followed by Live Bicycle Music Convert by renowned DJ Vispi.

This is being done considering the current scenario wherein people across India are under lockdown and social distancing is the new normal, said a statement.

BYCS India through its network of Bicycle Mayors in India started reaching out to cyclists and cycling clubs across India in the second week of May 2020 and requested them to share photos of themselves on their bicycles along with their family and friends.

The overwhelming response received for world bicycle day has been appreciated by Bicycle Mayors from across the country.

People had been very creative in sending photographs wherein some were spotted in traditional dresses of their states, some sharing CoVID-19 messages and how cycling is the solution to most problems of this world.

“We have received over 1000 photos in this campaign which will be compiled into a beautiful video and launched by Dr Bhairavi Joshi, Head, BYCS India,” it said.

Gopesh Debnath, bicycle mayor of Agartala, reached out to local clubs here- Agartala Cycloholics- a cycling community, for participation in the campaign.

Members of the club participated with much enthusiasm and submitted their photos.

The launch of the video will be followed by a live music concert based on cycling by DJ Vispi.

The music concert has been designed with special focus on cyclists from across the country and the kind of music they love.

The Bicycle Mayor network was established and is coordinated by the Dutch social enterprise BYCS, which works to create and scale breakthrough new solutions for cycling.

It has a mission called 50by30, which means they want 50% of all city trips to be taken on bike by 2030.

They have this mission because cycling does not just provide active, clean mobility solutions for cities but it also improves public mental and physical health, improves the environment, builds stronger communities and fosters new, sustainable economic opportunities.
