Guwahati: Smriti Mandhana has become the first woman cricketer to cross the 11,000-run mark in international cricket, reaching the milestone during India’s Asian Games title clash against Sri Lanka.
Mandhana marked the achievement with a dominant knock in the final, scoring 79 off 45 deliveries, including five fours and seven sixes. Her innings came at a strike rate of 175.56 and helped India post 216/3 after opting to bat first.
The left-handed batter is already the leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is, having amassed 4,867 runs in 179 matches, including two centuries and 37 half-centuries. In ODIs, she has scored 5,411 runs in 120 appearances, with 14 centuries and 35 fifties.
In Test cricket, Mandhana has accumulated 788 runs from nine matches at an average of 52.53, including two centuries and five half-centuries.
With her latest innings, Mandhana has taken her international tally to 11,066 runs from 308 matches, along with 18 centuries, further extending her record as the leading run-scorer and century-maker in women’s international cricket.
Mandhana also provided India with a strong start in the final, combining with Shafali Verma for a 99-run opening stand. Shafali contributed 48 from 29 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur made 19 off 17 deliveries before her dismissal, while Richa Ghosh supplied the late surge. The wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 49 from just 22 balls, striking six fours and three sixes as India finished on 216/3.
