After witnessing Riyan Parag’s outstanding performance in the IPL, Irfan Pathan confidently stated that Parag possesses the potential to represent Team India in the near future.
Irfan Pathan, currently on commentary duty with Star Sports’ Hindi team, closely observed Riyan Parag’s remarkable innings.
Pathan had been keeping an eye on the young cricketer since his debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2019.
While Parag showed glimpses of his talent in his early years, it was in his latest performance that he truly showcased his abilities.
Although the 2023 season did not unfold as Riyan Parag might have hoped, his consistent hard work in the domestic circuit has begun to pay off in Rajasthan Royals’ first two matches this season.
Following his score of 43 runs off 29 balls in Rajasthan’s opening game against Lucknow Super Giants, Parag continued his impressive form in the match against Delhi Capitals.
He played a match-winning innings, scoring an unbeaten 84 runs off 45 balls, which not only helped Rajasthan set a challenging target of 186 runs but also earned him the Man of the Match award.
This performance was crucial as Rajasthan’s victory seemed uncertain at one point.
In the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, Riyan Parag scored 510 runs in 10 innings, averaging 85 with a strike rate of 183.
