Arunachal to face Meghalaya in Sub-Jr National Football C’ship finals

The sub-junior football team of Arunachal Pradesh entered the finals of the ongoing Hero Sub-Jr National Football Championship-2019 at Kalyani in West Bengal.

Arunachal Pradesh will lock horns with Meghalaya in the finals of the championship which is slated for Tuesday.

Continuing their winning streak, team Arunachal defeated Kerala by 2 goals to nil in the second semifinal match which was played at the Kalyani Sports Complex on Sunday.

Jacky Rampung and Mam Prema Sherpa were the goal scorers for Arunachal who now have reached the finals of the coveted competition for the second time in a row.

“It was an all-round performance by our lads as everyone gave their heart out in the field,” a delighted coach TD Wangja said.

“We are looking forward to keep up the momentum in the finals and hopefully bring home the championship trophy for our people,” he said.

The Arunachal Football Association (AFA) has congratulated the team for entering in the final.

AFA on its Twitter handle said on Sunday: “Arunachal storms into final of Hero Sub Junior Boys NFC. Many congratulations to our Arunachali team for making it to the final of Hero Sub Jr Boys National Football championship 2019 at Kalyani, West Bengal!”

“Hoping for exhilarating performance in the final!” it added.

Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu has also congratulated the state team.

Re-tweeting the AFA tweet, Khandu said: “Congratulations to Arunachal football team for making itto the final. Hoping for a (an) excellent performance in the final, best wishes..!”
