Sevora Debuts in Kolkata with Indiaโ€™s First Stylist-Driven Fashion Commerce Platform

Sevora has officially arrived in Kolkata, unveiling a unique “fashion as a service” concept that combines the ease of e-commerce with the bespoke touch of in-home styling. The brand is designed to bridge a significant divide in the current retail market: whereas digital shopping often suffers from high return rates and a lack of professional advice, traditional brick-and-mortar stores can feel restrictive or inconvenient. By placing professional stylists at the heart of the shopping process, Sevora empowers customers to make fashion decisions with greater precision and assurance.

The platform utilizes a curated commerce approach, built on direct collaborations with luxury labels and designer brands. Through a hybrid business model that combines Outright Purchase with Sale-or-Return (SOR) agreements, Sevora maintains a balanced inventory while providing up-and-coming designers with a platform to connect with a broader customer base.

This operational framework enables stylists to curate complete ensembles, fostering a more intimate and guided shopping experience. Simultaneously, the hybrid inventory strategy allows the company to optimize capital efficiency and manage stock effectively. In this capacity, Sevora functions as a tech-enabled B2B2C platform, linking brands, stylists, and consumers within a service-oriented ecosystem.

Currently, the platform supports a growing community of professional stylists and features collections from more than 10 premium and designer labels. Kolkata was selected as the launch market due to the cityโ€™s deep-rooted appreciation for craftsmanship, tailoring, and individual style. With a local demographic that prioritizes fabric quality, fit, and thoughtful dressing, the city serves as the perfect testing ground for Sevora to hone its operations ahead of future expansion.

Reflecting on the launch, Mashum Mollah, Founder, Sevora, said, “Fashion has always been personal, but the shopping experience has become increasingly impersonal. Sevora was created to bring human expertise back to the centre of fashion discovery, while building an ecosystem where stylists are not just service providers, but key value creators.

“Our technology enables stylists to scale their expertise through a data-driven curation engine that incorporates body type and colour analysis, style profiling, a dedicated CRM for stylists, and a lookbook engine for personalised outfit creation. This infrastructure allows us to deliver consistent, scalable, and highly personalised styling experiences. “

He added, “Industry estimates suggest that over 30% of online fashion orders in India are returned, largely due to fit issues, quality mismatch, and unguided purchase decisions. Sevora addresses this challenge by enabling more informed and confident choices at the point of discovery. “

The platform provides two primary service levels. The “Buy Now” feature offers customers the ability to purchase items with 60-minute express delivery in specific PIN codes, with same-day or next-day shipping available throughout the rest of Kolkata. Alternatively, the flagship “Try Now” service lets users book a home trial. During these appointments, a Sevora stylist arrives with up to five curated outfits for a 30-minute assisted session, giving customers the chance to try on garments before committing to a purchase.

Looking ahead, Sevora intends to open its inaugural physical Experience Centre in Kolkata and roll out bespoke tailoring services to further enhance its value proposition. The companyโ€™s immediate priorities include growing its stylist network, optimizing its technological backend, and ensuring a flawless customer experience before considering expansion into other cities.

By blending technology, professional styling, and strategic brand partnerships, Sevora is constructing a human-centric fashion commerce platform aimed at making personalized styling both scalable and accessible.
