Mizoram People’s Party, a lesser known political outfit formed in 2017 by a local businessman has joined hands with Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) to form a pre-poll alliance in Mizoram. Zoram People’s Movement, the new political outfit headed by several prominent citizens of Mizoram is now a collaboration of five political outfits.

Declaring their union at the Aizawl Press Club on Thursday Lalsawta, one of the leaders of the ZPM said that the union of political parties has gained strength day by day. “The people of Mizoram have known only two parties in the last three decades; both the parties have proved themselves that they are not worthy to rule Mizoram. Our new outfit will usher our state into a new era,” Lalsawta said.

Initiated by Zoram Exodus Movement which was formed by several prominent citizens, Zoram People’s Movement has now five political parties in its union. The union is formed by the Zoram Nationalists Party, Mizo Peoples Conference, Zoram Exodus Movement, Zoram Reformation Front and Mizoram Mipui Pawl.

ZPM spokesperson Lalsawta told mediapersons talks are on with Prism and Zoramthar. If these two parties join the unison then ZPM will become a third front comprising all the lesser known political outfits of Mizoram.

This pre-electoral alliance was formed in September last year by Zoram Nationalist Party, Mizoram Peoples Conference and the Zoram Exodus Movement, they plan to contest the Mizoram assembly polls scheduled for late this year.

The alliance has guaranteed free and fair governance to the people of Mizoram if voted to power and build a new Mizoram. The party has appealed to the people of Mizoram for donations. The party believed that people’s participation in their campaigns would ensure responsibility on the part of their candidates.

The new outfit leaders said Rs 3 to 4 lakh will be the campaign budget of their candidates and will be monitored closely and made it known to the candidates that they are responsible to the people who donated their funds.

The Zoram People’s Movement will play their part as the third front in the Mizoram assembly polls scheduled later this year.
