Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP)-BJP chief ministerial candidate Neiphiu Rio on February 18 said the inability to form a stable government had hindered many development activities in Nagaland with TR Zeliang running an opposition-less government as chief minister.

Speaking at the campaign programme for the Southern Angami assembly constituency NDPP candidate Zale Neikha at Viswema Village Council Hall under Kohima district on February 18, Rio stated that the Naga people had wasted four precious years of BJP-led NDA Government from 2014-2017, Rio asserted that the Nagas should catch the bus this time to get along with the Government at the centre under the dynamic leadership of PM Modi.

On the NDPP-BJP alliance, he made it clear that at no point would the Christian faith be threatened.

The NDPP-BJP alliance in Nagaland has now one seat in their kitty.

Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) Chief Ministerial candidate and former Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio was elected uncontested to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly after his rival candidate from the NPF Chupfuo Angami withdrew his nomination.

Three candidates filed their nominations from Northern Angami II constituency – Neiphiu Rio (NDPP), Chupfuo Angami (NPF) and an NDPP (S) Neiphrezo Keditsu. The standby candidate for the NDPP and the NPF candidate withdrew their candidatures paving Rio to win the seat uncontested.
