As the world gears up to celebrate the World Water Day, there are still several people in various places in this world who do not have access to proper drinking water.
There is a village under Panisagar Sub-Division – Roundchara ADC village – under North Tripura where the only source of drinking water for the people is a dirty stream.
There are a total of 44 Reang community families, who are residing in the village since independence, and despite of so many years after the country’s independence, the villagers still don’t have access to proper drinking water.
There is one Anganwadi centre and a JB school, but there is no proper facility for drinking water. Most of the villagers are just 8th standard passed. As per information, the villagers face health issues.
The villagers have reported the issue several times before the authorities concerned during the time of CPI(M)-led government but no action has been taken.
The village has also no proper roads and transport facilities.
However, after years of deprivation, the villagers expect that they would see ray of hopes as the BJP MLA has given assurance to improve the basic amenities in the village.
