Woman poisons, beats husband to death in West Sikkim

In a bizarre incident, a 33-year-old man was first given rat poison and then beaten to death with a wooden log allegedly by his wife at Yuksom in West Sikkim on Friday evening.

According to media reports, it has been suspected that the deceased, identified as Nima Tshering Lepcha, allegedly had maintained extramarital affair with a woman leading to the fatal assault.

Police have arrested the 30-year-old woman, who is accused of beating her husband to death.

A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered at Geyzing Police Station in West Sikkim.

The deceased was brought dead at Yuksom Primary Health Centre (PHC) and the police were informed about the incident.

As per media reports, police said Nima Tshering was poisoned with rat poison in tea and then he was assaulted with a wooden log on his head by his wife resulting in his death.

The couple had been married for the last 13 years and also has an 11-year-old daughter.

The deceased was a driver by profession and used to drive his own truck. He used to stay in a rented room at Yuksom, reports said.
