Sophisticated weapons and explosives seized from two abandoned camps in Manipur.

Imphal: A large number of sophisticated weapons and a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives were retrieved from two abandoned camps located in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Aimol and Irengbam Maning villages in Manipur’s Bishnupur district adjoining the Churachandpur district, officials said on Monday.

Based on intelligence input, joint forces of the state and centre busted the camps in the operations carried out under the Nambol police station on Sunday morning, the sources said.

The recovered items included one carbine with two magazines, one 9mm pistol with a magazine, four 36 HE grenades live, fifty rounds of live ammunition, and five PEK sticks of improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approx. 750 grams, six numbers of SLR tube launchers, one 75 detonator, eight numbers of 36 hand grenade arming rings, two numbers of ballistic cartridges, one tear shell, one C90 MK 3 grenade, two numbers of 80 grenade MK-1 (WP), one Bicard Strip, and two numbers of walkie-talkie with one charger.

The retrieved materials have been handed over to the Nambol police station for further legal proceedings, the sources added.
