The ugly incident of vandalism at the police station and the PWD office at Bomdila in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh by 2nd Arunachal Scouts (AS) personnel stationed in West Kameng headquarters Bomdila after the Army men were allegedly assaulted by some policemen had led to war of words in the social media.
Northeast Now has earlier reported that during the second day of the Buddha Mahotsava celebration on Saturday, the 2nd Arunachal Scouts (AS) personnel stationed in West Kameng headquarters Bomdila went on rampage and vandalized the police station and the PWD office in Bomdila.
Meanwhile, the West Kameng district unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Police has begun an inquiry into the vandalism that took place at the police station and the PWD office on Saturday.
The probe team is being led by an officer of the rank of additional superintendent of police (ASP).
Earlier, the IAS Association on Tuesday condemned the assault of a police station and the attack on a Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent Police in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh allegedly by about 100 Army personnel.
In a post in the association’s official Twitter handle, it stated: “We strongly condemn the rogue act of ransacking a Police Station, threatening, abusing & assaulting a SHO, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police on duty. Rule of Law is paramount and Justice must be ensured esspecially when perpetrators are those whom the Nation looks upto.”
The DM/DC must be a complete fool to permit two Armymen to beaten up by local Police @PemaKhanduBJP
This constnt needling of Armymen n testing their limits by a few in @IASassociation n police is dangerous stupidity n must not be ignored anymore. @PMOIndia @KirenRijiju https://t.co/YFkqZtzZ1n

Reacting to the post, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian, Rajeev Chandrasekhar spoke out in defence of the Indian Army.
He also went to the extent of denouncing the Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop for his improper handling of the entire situation.
He took to Twitter and wrote:
‘The DM/DC must be a complete fool to permit two Armymen to beaten up by local Police @PemaKhanduBJP
This constnt needling of Armymen n testing their limits by a few in @IASassociation n police is dangerous stupidity n must not be ignored anymore. @PMOIndia @KirenRijiju’
In an earlier tweet he wrote:
‘This issue shd not be driven by a typical @IASassociation one-sided narratve.
I trust the #IndianArmy will ensure respect to laws n justice agnst those who violate law
Ppl expect a fair indpndnt investgtn into conduct of DM/DC n police. @nsitharaman @PemaKhanduBJP @PMOIndia’.
In reply to his tweets, Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju had replied:
‘@rajeev_mp ji, the matter is sensitive. Raksha Mantri, CM and I’m working out to settle the matter. Not appropriate to blame anyone straightaway.’
However, it seems, Rijiju has removed his tweet as is not to be found now.
Amid these wars of words, a video has gone viral where an Army colonel posted in Bomdila is allegedly threatening police personnel and the department of dire consequences if such incident recurs in future.
