The 13th Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu is coming to Sikkim on Monday on a two-day visit to the State.
This is the maiden visit of the Vice President to the organic state.
Born on 1st July, 1949 at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Naidu took oath as the 13th Vice President and the chairman of the Rajya Sabha on the August 11, 2017.
He had served as the minister for housing and urban poverty alleviation, urban development and information and broadcasting.
He is an alumni of Andhra University College of Law, Vishakapatnam and was an active member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the ABVP during his college days.
He is a prominent leader of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and has served as its national president from 2002 to 2004.
A Guard of Honour will be welcoming the Vice President to Sikkim at Pakyong Airport. The Governor of Sikkim Ganga Prasad and the Chief Minister of Sikkim Pawan Chamling will be hosting the Vice President during his visit.
The Vice President will be visiting several places of interest in Sikkim during his two-day visit.
