Vajpayee ashes to reach Shillong on Thursday, to be immersed at Umshyrpi river

The ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will be brought to Shillong on Thursday.

Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister,  AL Hek on  Tuesday said that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will hand over ‘asthi kalash’ to all the state presidents of the BJP and BJP state president, Shibun Lyngdoh will received the ashes in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Hek also said that the ashes will be brought to Shillong and it will be immersed in a river in Shillong.

The former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee breathed his last in New Delhi on August 16.

Earlier, Hek also met the daughter of  Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi and attended his funeral.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, Meghalaya has also planned to take out a rally with the ashes of the former Prime Minister.

On Thursday, State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh will arrive at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati.

On the same day, the party members will pay homage at Nongpoh of Ri-bhoi district and later in the evening, the pot of ashes will be installed at the BJP state party office conference hall by the officials and members of the party.

Next day, all party workers will pay their respect at BJP state party office and an all faith prayer meet has also been organized.

On August 25, the ashes will be immerged at Umshyrpi river near Rilbong Dhobi Ghat.
