The US Ambassador to India, Kenneth I Juster, called on Air Marshal RD Mathur, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Eastern Air Command (EAC) of Indian Air Force in Shillong on Thursday.
US Ambassador Juster discussed various issues, including the significance of Indo-US relations and between the armed forces in particular.
The US Ambassador is on a visit to Meghalaya and met several officials of the state government including heads of armed forces in Shillong, the state capital of Meghalaya.
“Both of them discussed various issues, including the significance of Indo-US relations and between the Armed Forces in particular,” defence PRO Ratnakar Singh said.
The US Ambassador was scheduled to visit Meghalaya in the last week of February last.
But with the growing tension between India and Pakistan, US Ambassador Juster had cut-short his programme and rushed back to New Delhi cancelling his Meghalaya visit.
Informing about the cancellation of the February visit to Meghalaya, senior Meghalaya government officials told Northeast Now that they were informed by the US Embassy officials that Ambassador Juster had to rush back to New Delhi because of “some important works”.
In his February visit to the Northeast, Juster had a meeting with Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi.
