Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Hardeep Singh Puri would review flagship urban programmes in the Northeast for the first time at the fag end of the year in Tripura.
The three-day high profile meeting would be held at the Pranja Bhavan in Agartala from December 30 next.
On the first day, the Union Minister and Secretary of MoHUA, Durga Saran Mishra would hold meeting with Urban Affairs Ministers of the northeastern states to review the progress in flagship urban programmes.
After the review, a comprehensive plan for the north-eastern region would be formulated based on the inputs forwarded by the Urban Affairs ministers of the north-eastern states.
Status of Smart City, AMRUT, PMAY (U) and Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM-U) would be reviewed threadbare to have a clear idea on the status of flagship programmes.
During the visit, the Union Minister is also expected to inaugurate on housing complex and market shed at Radhanagar in the heart of the city.
Reliable sources also indicated that during the visit of the Union Urban Affairs Minister, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who is holding the charge of Urban Development department may ask for special assistance for developing small smart city projects urban areas except Agartala city which has also found place in the central government’s Smart City plan.
