ULFA (I)
The surrendered ULFA (I) rebels in Tinsukia.

The ULFA on Friday mocked the surrender of six of its cadre before police in Tinsukia district on Thursday and dubbed it as stage-managed.

In a statement, the outfit said, “For the last several months they (the surrendered militants)  were under the supervision of the police and were involved in extortion in various places of Tinsukia district besides in areas like Namsai, Lohit, Dibang and Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh to defame the ULFA.”

“Their surrender will not damage our organization instead it has proved the veracity of our claim,” the outfit stated.

According to the outfit the timing of the press conference and the DGP himself addressing the media were also unusual. “This indicates that Assam Police are worried at the organizational strength and successful operation of ULFA,” the outfit stated.

The outfit also claimed that another five of its cadre are now under the supervision of the police and they will be brought before the media by police to ‘discourage the indigenous people’.
