The Kokrajhar district administration on Wednesday organised a training programme for government employees of both Kokrajhar and Chirang districts, who have engaged as verifiers for Aadhaar enrolment in the conference hall of the Basic Training Centre of Kokrajhar.
The training was inaugurated by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Niranjan Baruah in presence of Chirang Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Diganta Baisya, Kokrajhar Additional Deputy Commissioner PB Chetry and AC Bharat Konwar.
During the training programme, 43 employees from Kokrajhar and 31 employees from Chirang districts were imparted training by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) System analyst Jehrul Islam on the guidelines for Aadhaar enrolment, verifiers’ roles and responsibilities, documents to be verified at Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, etc.
Meanwhile, Kokrajhar and Chirang district administration have identified 35 and 31 government office buildings respectively as Aadhaar Enrolment Centres in their respective districts.
The training was also attended Chirang ADC Diganta Baisya, Kokrajhar ADC PB Chetry and AC Bharat Konwar.
It may be mentioned that the Union Government on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that it was willing to extend the deadline fixed for mandatory linking of Aadhaar for availing various services and welfare schemes till March 31 next year.
The extension, however, will apply only to those who do not have the Unique Identification Number yet.
The Supreme Court will now be setting up a five-judge Constitution Bench next week to hear several pleas seeking an interim stay on the Centre’s decision of mandatory linking of Aadhaar.
