Ugly scuffle between Left activists and BJP workers in Tripura

Tripura state secretary of Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the students’ wing of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Nilanjana Ray was allegedly attacked by activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha at her house in Jogendranagar on the outskirts of Agartala.

According to her, a group of women attacked her and her sister on Monday evening.

Later a large contingent of police led by SDPO Sadar, Suman Majumder rescued her and brought to the hospital for fast aid.

She said that the attack was totally politically motivated.

However, BJP Mahila Morcha on the contrary alleged that few local women including their leader Swapna Das was on door to door visit on the four year completion of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and when the team reached Nilanjana’s house, she along with her brother started abusing them following which a scuffle started.

Later, Swapna who had sustained injuries was taken to GB hospital for treatment.

As the news started spreading large number of BJP supporters gathered there and the incident turned big though within sometime police reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
